Monty Walker

 

Monty W. Walker is a Certified Public Accountant with a diversity of experience in the private closely-held business arena. He is a sole practitioner with a practice focus of providing business transition planning and transaction advisory services to owners of privately-held businesses. Having come from an entrepreneurial family, Monty has a comprehensive business background spanning over 30 years which includes experience in both startups and established entities. Monty spent the early part of his career as an industry CFO in the private sector for an Investment Trust based in Dallas, TX.  He has also owned and operated several of his own businesses.  Thus, his experience comes from being directly in the trenches.

Monty practices nationally. His advisory services to privately held business owners include support with Business Transactions, Business Structuring & Design, Business Tax Planning and Business Exit Planning. Monty’s flagship and most sought-after service from clients is his Business Transaction Advisory Services.  He works with Business Sellers, Business Buyers and their various advisors, such as Business Intermediaries, Accountants and Attorneys, to manage the unique financial, tax, planning and procedural matters associated with buying and selling a business.  Due to his background in the area of business transfers and business transitions he is often referred to by his clients and colleagues as a --- “Business Transaction CPA”.

Monty’s 30 years of experience includes advising clients on how to compliantly invest retirement money in private non-publicly traded investments and during most of this time he has assisted entrepreneurs with the using retirement money as a source of business capital.   His experience includes working with both Self-Directed IRAs and Self-Directed 401(k) Plans. 

Monty speaks nationally on various business topics. He has had the honor to speak before the United States House of Representatives Small Business Committee on the topic of How Tax Complexity Hinders Small Businesses.

Monty is a subject matter expert for the International Business Brokers Association and the M&A Source in the areas of Business Transaction Taxation, Structuring and Planning.  He regularly presents courses and workshops of this association including its various state affiliates. He has also presented for the Texas Real Estate Commission and the Texas Department of Insurance.

Monty is a graduate of Midwestern State University and received his license as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the International Business Brokers Association, the M&A Source, the Texas Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Association of Business Brokers, and the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders.
Monty is credentialed as a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
