From Service to Stewardship: How Owners in Honor Is Connecting Veterans and Texas Business Brokers

The Texas Association of Business Brokers (TABB) is proud to partner with Owners in Honor, a nonprofit organization founded by Patrick Flood, dedicated to empowering U.S. veterans and their families through business ownership.

Owners in Honor (OIH) provides veterans with education, mentorship, and access to acquisition opportunities, helping them leverage their leadership and operational skills in entrepreneurship. The organization’s mission is simple yet powerful,  to help veterans become owners, not just employees, as they transition from military service into civilian life.

In a recent episode of The Texas Business Broker Podcast, TABB Vice President Joshua Carnes sat down with Patrick Flood to explore how OIH is building pathways for veterans to acquire existing businesses and continue their legacy within local communities.

“Veterans are trained to steward missions that outlast them,” Patrick shared during the discussion. “That same sense of purpose is what makes them exceptional business owners. They don’t just buy companies, they protect legacies and strengthen communities.”

Through this new partnership, TABB members will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with OIH’s network of vetted veteran buyers, helping connect these mission-driven individuals with businesses for sale across Texas.

This collaboration not only creates opportunities for veterans to pursue entrepreneurship, but it also provides TABB brokers and advisors with a new pool of qualified buyers who bring leadership, discipline, and a deep sense of stewardship to the companies they acquire.
